Some Days
“Some days are so green I wish that I could keep half that color stored in me down deep. Some days you just don’t want to end.” Matt Wertz sang it well. Young Life Camp 2007 was a moment to remember. I have my life to Christ once more, the second time since that day in Texas after Baptist Bible School with my daycare provider Miss Mary. That summer 2007 was a life changer. I went to camp only knowing a handful of people a year behind me in school and my counselor Gretchen. I still remember how she whispered to us in our cabin to come outside. We were in our pajamas! She had a surprise for us. There was Matt Wertz there to serenade our entire cabin. We were in Hog Heaven or at least that’s what Gran would say in Texas. He sang for us and I will never forget that summer. How I felt climbing the rock climbing wall. The choices I made. The feeling like I was ready to embark on my own. I was ready, for I would be attending college that fall. Accepting Jesus into my heart that day was a life changer and made the difference in my college experience. I definitely have had days and sunsets since that day where I think of Matt Wertz and his lyrics, not wanting the day to end.
