I See Her
Some days you feel like your whole life is like a droplet of water, like you can see inside. If you look really closely, you can see your entire little world happening. It’s swirling with excitement and buzzing with energy. Oh, there’s you. Do you even recognize who you have become? What happened while you were sleeping? Did time stand still or did life just pass you by? What happened exactly? Wow! Whoosh!!!!! And done.
“That’s it?” you ask. “Could it really be? We get one life and then one day in an instant we simply wake up and see it clearly? Wow! That is cool.” Well, that is what happened to me today. I just “woke up.” I “got woke.” Is that even a thing? Well, I guess so because it just happened. I walked in the bathroom, looked in the mirror and there I was.
The person I’d waited to become. She was right there looking back at me. Right in front of me was the person I’d longed to be. Wow! Yep, there she was. In real life. Looking at me with a sparkle in her eyes. She’d always been there. I was just too busy to notice her. To take care of her. To take care of her heart. She needed love. She’d always needed love. How was that so easy to forget? How could I forget my most important person. Myself.
I had been feeling uprooted all day. With the move, I felt like the tree I had been trying so hard to plant had been potted and told, “It’s time.” Then, the mail came and THIS lovely journal had arrived from Texas. Kerri, my roommate from college had designed it and her sister Kim had written it. Wow! Exactly what I needed. The most grounding moment happened. Suddenly, I was back in Electric Earth Café studying with Kerri, but this time is was Black Locust Café chatting with the barista. What a flashback to a moment in time that stood so still. Well, that pot is about to get replanted, yo! Here I come.
