Keep Your Head Up

As Andy Grammer puts it, “You gotta keep your head up, but you can let your hair down.” This really resonates with me as I look at pictures of myself and feel into my body. What does it mean to keep your head up AND let your hair down at the same time. Is that even possible? Don’t we have to do one or the other. How can we be everything and nothing at the exact same time? It’s too much to comprehend, so I’ll just hide under the blankets.

Tap. Tap. Tap. “Get Up!” a voice says. Wake up and smell the coffee! It’s right in front of your face. The aroma is right under your nose. You almost missed it! Wow! What? How could I miss it? Phenomenon. What a phenomenon. Phenomenons are possible and there is no explanation for them. With that being said, maybe it is possible to be both strong and let loose at the same time. Hmmm. How?

Keeep your head up. Let your hair down. Let’s try it out. Hold up your head strong and true. Undo your ponytail and feel your hair falling down your back. The looseness swaying back and forth as you shake out your hair. Soft, yet strong. Foundation with freedom. New concept, eh? Well, yes. It sure is.

Now, how to implement. In real life it takes gusto and fuerza. It takes firmness and boundaries. It takes not backing down on the important things. Once you’ve got that down, then you can slowly sway your head back and forth. Feel the air come between the strands of hair. Ahhhhh. A smile comes to your face as you feel a feeling of delight. Breathe it in. All in. This is your moment. Your moment to be both strong and beautiful. Try it on. It might look good on you. Better yet, FEEL good. It’s all yours. Enjoy.
